“I survived the occupation, so now I will survive everything,” Natalia

Natalia lives in her small private house in the village of Bobrovyi Kut, Kherson region. The woman recalls the time of occupation that she and her daughter-in-law lived through with sadness.

“Once a drunken soldier came looking for someone,” Natalia says. – “Another time they asked us to give them geese. “We didn’t give them anything, my daughter-in-law was fighting with them. And in the house next door, which was left unattended, they took a lot of things. When my neighbor came back, he was unhappy that I did not protect his property, he threatened me.”

Because of the explosions, the windows in Natalia’s house were broken, and she covered them with rags. The humanitarian organization SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL gave her money to replace the windows.

“This is very good help, otherwise I would not have managed. But I need more money, because my pension is small. There are big gaps near the windows, so it’s very cold, and they need to be sealed.”

Now Natalia lives alone, and she hasn’t seen her three sons for a long time. The eldest is in Poland, the middle one is in Kharkiv region, and the youngest is in Stara Kakhovka, Kherson region. She does not want to leave the village and go to them.

“Of course, it’s sad to be here alone. But I read the Bible, read a newspaper, or call my middle son. I survived the occupation, so now I will survive everything,” Natalia says.
